On February 28, 2001, dream released their first album, titled Dear. Ironically, the group's next single, " Believe in you", would be their worst-charting to date, peaking at #36. "My will" was the song that gave dream new found fame as it was used as the first ending theme song for the popular anime Inuyasha. Their next few singles all charted in similar territory, failing to break the top 10 until their sixth single, " My will", which made it to #6 at the end of 2000. On January 1, 2000, dream debuted with the single " Movin' on", which charted within the top 15 on the Oricon charts. They formed avex's next idol group, dream.Ģ000-2002: Debut, first album and Matsumuro Mai's departure The final winners of the competition were Matsumuro Mai, Tachibana Kana and Hasebe Yu. Interestingly enough, one of the entrants was Koda Kumi, who placed second and is now a popular singer (as well as Dream's label-mate within rhythm zone). Over 120,000 hopefuls auditioned in front of a panel of judges, notably including Mochida Kaori of the popular band, Every Little Thing. And 'Dream', he hopes, is the record that just might inspire one to do so.In 1999, avex trax organized a huge talent contest, called "avex dream 2000", looking for the next big hit idol group. Roman might be living his dream, but he wants his listeners to never give up chasing theirs, too. There's something here for fans of every facet of modern trance - but there's more to it than this. The record is diverse, and the motto of producing something standout and memorable that went into the creation of 'Dreaming' clearly applied to the album as a whole. The album's sound is described by Roman as 'progressive' in the broad sense, but branches out into genres like breaks and uplifting trance.
And when it comes to collaborations, it's not all vocals, either - Roman joins forces in the studio with trance musicians like Davey Asprey on the aforementioned 'Eternity', Twin View on 'Dancing In The Dark' (with vocals courtesy of Christian Burns) and the legend of the Russian trance scene FEEL on 'Reflection'.

There's everything here: second - and even third-time collaborations with the likes of Roxanne Emery and Christina Novelli, ballads like ‘I Been Needing You’ and peaktime bangers like 'Serenity', cuts that Roman kept exclusive for his own label and tracks like 'Eternity' and 'Magic Fly' that caught the attention of Armin van Buuren himself who signed them to his own labels and included them on his prestigious A State Of Trance series of mix compilations - and made 'Magic Fly' his Tune Of The Week recently. In Roman's own words, 'Dreaming' was envisioned as a standout track when it was being crafted in the studio, but the 'Dream' LP offers plenty more memorable moments like this. Yet here he is, tearing the roofs of festival stages all over the world from A State Of Trance to Trancemission, Alfa Future People to Viva Braslav, ranking among the top 15 trance artists of the world this year according to the reputable TrancePodium voting - and now, capping off his incredible 2019, releasing his third artist album. With him going from strength to strength lately, hitting milestone after milestone in his career, it can be hard to believe that this Russian producer was making his first marks on the trance scene just seven years ago. Well, Roman himself is certainly living the dream, for one. For Roman Messer's third long-player 'Dream', the moment of inception was two years ago, giving birth to what would become 'Dreaming', the energetic uplifter built around the ambiguous question.
Every album starts somewhere - with the first ideas hastily written on a napkin in a bout of inspiration, first chords laid down, first sounds escaping the studio speakers.
